“Hey there, Georgy girl Swinging down the street so fancy-free Nobody you meet could ever see the loneliness there inside you”

If you’re as old as me you might remember those lines from a song by the Seekers back in the day.

It was a song about coming into your own and finding a better, stronger version of yourself to show to the world.

It was also where the name came from for the first family cat I can remember us having. Georgy Girl, or GG for short, was black and white. Black and white being two extreme colours, a bit like the girl in the song, who had a brave face on the outside, co-existing with doubts and insecurities on the inside.

GG the cat had a good life, full of love and security and maybe the Georgy Girl in the Seekers song was able to find that too. Based on the hopeful ending, maybe she did!

“Hey there, Georgy girl Dreaming of the someone you could be Life is a reality, you can't always run away Don't be so scared of changing and rearranging yourself It's time…”
